Nagroda Czlowieka Roku

For their outstanding contributions to the Polish community, the title of Person of the Year 2024 by Dziennik Związkowy was awarded to the musical couple Barbara Bilszta and Wojciech Niewrzoł, the Executive Director and Artistic Director of the Paderewski Symphony Orchestra (PaSO). PaSO holds a unique place on the global cultural map as the only professional orchestra operating outside of Poland dedicated exclusively to the promotion of Polish music.

Under their leadership, the orchestra has grown into a dynamic cultural institution, presenting high-level artistic programs while serving as an ambassador of Polish heritage abroad. Through carefully curated performances, collaborations, and community engagement, Bilszta and Niewrzoł have helped elevate the visibility of Polish composers and musical traditions within the international arts landscape.

In addition to their work with the orchestra, they also lead the highly regarded Academy of Music, an educational institution operating under the orchestra’s patronage. The Academy plays a vital role in nurturing young talent, offering rigorous training, and instilling a deep appreciation for music among students of diverse backgrounds. Together, their artistic vision and dedication to education continue to strengthen cultural ties, inspire future generations, and reinforce the presence of Polish culture within the global community.
